A Brush Fire Burns Two Barns And Part Of A Home

An afternoon brush fire in Falling Creek destroyed two barns and damaged a home being remodeled as it consumed close to four acres of northern Columbia County property. Two other barns were saved.

Units from the Columbia County Fire Department and Florida Division of Forestry responded to the blaze on Falling Creek Road in the northern part of the county and spent close to three hours on site trying to douse the fire. The Columbia County Fire Department responded to the blaze with three engines, two tankers and four brush trucks as well as a total of 16 firefighters, including paid firefighters and reservists. The Florida Division of Forestry had an engine and plow on scene along with two personnel.
