An F-150 Hits A Pedestrian ( Caution- Graphic)
William A McNaughton, 55, is life flighted after being hit by a F-150 on Hwy. 90 while crossing NW Cole Terrace. Tammy Birchard was heading East on Hwy 90 when she attempted to turn Left onto Cole terrace at that point she struck Mr. McNaughton. Birchard was cited for careless driving.

A 2007 Ford Expedition Burns
A 2007 Ford Expedition burst into flames after the owner, Dale Moury, of Ft.White, accidentally caught a glove on fire, that he was carrying, while lighting a lighter. Moury, was doing some land clearing at the time of the incident.

A Two Story House Fire
A two story house, that was fully involved on the second floor, at 509 NW David Ave. was saved by the efforts of the C.C.F.D.. The fire was thought to be caused by electrical problems. Watch the efforts unfold through the picture slide show and see what it takes to put out this fire.

A Lake City women was Life Flighted To Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Wendy Hedges, 34, ran head on into a tree while driving a 2007 Chevy Pick up.

Car Into Trailer = Felony Charges And Two Hurt
A Columbia County man allegedly caused a crash after he grabbed the steering wheel from the passenger seat, according to a Sheriff's office report. Ronald Aaron Geiger, 30, was charged with multiple felonies after the crash and ensuing chaos. The 2001 Dodge Neon was nearly buried up to the windshield after the high speed impact.

Two Men Charged With A Felony
Two Morristown men were charged with felony possession burglary tools after an attempted break in of a motor home. Larry Johnson, 43, and Joesph Aatonini, 47, were pulled over after a B.O.L.O. was put out for a vehicle matching the description they were driving, a dark colored one ton Dodge Dually with silver trim, was spotted heading south on the I-75 on ramp. Other charges are pending.

L.C.F.D. & L.C.P.D With Unity Concepts 2nd Annual Toy Drive!
The Lake City Police Dept. along with the Lake City Fire Dept in conjunction with Unity Concepts held its second annual toy drive. This drive started last year when Hillary Sessions Came to lake City (Sessions is the mother of missing student Tiffany Sessions, who went missing in Gainesville, FL in Feb. 1989) and help start the now annual toy drive. Last year over $3,000.00 in toys was raised from Dec.18th to Dec. 24th. The Elks lodge, hearing about the toys, sent people who needed toys to the drive and those who needed food were sent to the Elks.
The sponsors are Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Spires Grocery, Catholic Charities, Smart Liquidations and Dollar Crazy.

Rollover On I-75 Leaves Two Dead
Two people died and three people were injured, one seriously, after the 1993 Ford Explorer they were riding in had a left rear tire separate sending the vehicle out of control. The driver tried to keep the vehicle on the road and over corrected. The Explorer then rotated and went into a multiple rollover.

Extraction on Main and Michigan
A crash on South Main St. and Michigan sent a 19yr old women to the hospital after the 2005 Dodge neon she was in pulled out in front of a 2005 Chrysler Sebring. The Jaws of Life was used to extract the patient.

Columbia County Fire Department's Annual Award and Christmas Banquet
The C.C.F.D's. Auxiliary put on a wonderful Banquet for the Fire Fighters and managed to get Santa to stop by for all the kids..even the big kids sat on Santa's lap.
On page 3, you will see the Command structure as well as the Reserve and Paid Fire Fighters of the year. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I had a great time and was welcomed with open arms.

Leonard Wright 28, From Jacksonville, Florida Died after he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier at the 311 mile mark heading East on I-10 around 3:25 p.m.

WANTED!!! Help Catch A Robber!!!
A Man and his accomplice robbed the local Exxon Food store Tuesday DEC 16th in the evening around 10:25p.m. located at Hwy 47 and CR.242. The man seen here was seen getting in the passenger side of a tan colored vehicle described as either a PT Cruiser or a Chevrolet HHR. The driver description is unknown.

Two Drivers Two Rollovers and Two Injuries
As I've said in a previous post, Only the General Lee is able to make the Jumps that require a 4 wheel soft landing. These two drivers need to look at this site and take my advice. The Toyota Avalon XLS beat out the Ford Explorer on style of crash.

Five People Are Injured In A Three Car Crash
Five people were injured when two vehicles collided and landed on a third. The family in the 2000 Chevy Tahoe, just recently lost their home in a fire. That story can be seen in the November stories. The other vehicles involved in this wreck were a 2008 Honda CRV and a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4.

A Wanted Man Out of Ohio Caught With A 15 Year Old Runaway
Wayne Dobson 18, wanted out of Hancock County Ohio, was captured with a fifteen year old runaway at the Wal-Mart in Lake City, Florida. A B.O.L.O. had been put out locally for the two teenagers and the car. The car was spotted by Wal-Mart security and the local authorities were called in. Dobson was taken into custody as the two approached the vehicle. Local authorities charged Dobson with possession of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle they were in was a 1999 Cadillac Catera.

14.4 Acre Fire Burns Multiple Structures In Northern Columbia County
A small yard burn turned into a nightmare Wednesday afternoon for residents on Morrell Drive in Northern Columbia County. The 14.4 acre fire destroyed a single wide, a camper home and multiple other structures being used as storage and damaged an occupied double wide mobile home. This fire threatened many more structures but the efforts of the C.C.F.D., L.C.F.D. and the Florida Division of Forestry kept this fire from doing further damage.
According to the Florida Division of Forestry, Columbia County is under a Red Flag. Any burning must be approved.

Three Crashes, Three Rookies And Four Injuries
Four people were sent to area hospitals after three separate crashes in Columbia County. Two Toyota Camry's, a Dodge Dakota, a Ford F-250 were some of the vehicles involved. At the scenes we had three rookies working and they did a great job.

A Stabbing And A Bad Driver
A Lake City man is sent by Life Flight after he was stabbed numerous time in his back and shoulder area. Eric Gabel is arrested for the attack. Gabel is accused of approaching the victim and starting an argument that turned into a fight. Gabel is then accused of pulling the knife and attacking the victim. Also a local women runs her Chevy S-10 into a ditch after a night out.

Brush Fire at Dekle Road and Brim St. Brings Out The Debut of R-43
Columbia County Fire Dept. responded to a brush fire on Dekle Road and Brim Street with its newest brush truck, the R-43. This vehicle was a former Forestry truck and only one of seven available. After months of training and refurbish, it came out swinging and showed it can take on the best of forest fires. The C.C.F.D. took this blaze head on and quickly showed what they could do. Great Job!

A Double-Wide Mobile Home Fire Leaves A Man Homeless
A double-wide mobile home is thought to have caught fire because of its fireplace.
Jerry Perry, the home owner, stated he had no other heat to use but his fireplace. He said he was watching t.v. when he saw smoke and went out back his back door and saw the flames on his roof. He escaped injury.

No Joy On Joy Lane After Fire Leaves 5 Homeless
A family of five are homeless on N.E.Joy Lane where a burning trash pile, out the back door, is thought to have caused the fire. A mother and son were home when the fire was spotted at the back of the home by the mother. She ran out the front door to the neighbors to call for help. The L.C.F.D.and C.C.F.D. were at the scene quickly and stopped the fire within minutes. Columbia County Deputies secured the area so the fire personnel could quickly do their work.
